Before Schedule Builder
can create your schedules you have to tell it about the assignments to be covered and the
preferences, availability and qualifications of your employees.
You have to define the different shifts (work time periods) you
schedule, the codes you use on schedules to indicate time off, and the
work rules which apply.
All this is accomplished by filling
out a number of data forms found in the scheduling database
administration (SchAdmin) program which ships with every system.
The forms contain a lot of detail necessary to accurately describe how
your people should be scheduled. You must understand the meaning
of all these details and be accurate if you want to get the most out of
the automation functions of the software.
Begin by obtaining our evaluation
package and running the demo
application. Follow the step by step guide to create a schedule.
It takes about an hour, but the understanding you'll develop as to what
Schedule Builder does is well worth the time. Then use SchAdmin to
examine the database of the demo application and you can see how the
information on the forms relates to the schedules produced for each
employee.
If you attempt to fill out the forms
of your own application without that experience you will not likely get
the results you expect.
The most efficient way to start out
defining your own application is to purchase a few hours of consulting
time and work back and forth with us until we get a small group of
employees defined with all the detail necessary for the FILL function to
draft their default schedules. Once you achieve that you should
understand the basic process. Then you should be able to add the
more employees, shifts and assignments and complete the definition with
only occasional help from our specialists.
